Breakfast Muesli Recipe
This recipe has been sent to Clarks by one of our customers. If you are looking for a delicious alternative to the usual porridge or cereal then this muesli recipe is a winner.
Mrs P Narang found that commercial muesli was too sweet but by substituting sugar with maple syrup in this homemade recipe she has solved the problem.
Ingredients
500g / 1lb 2oz Jumbo Oats
100g / 31/2oz Wheat germ or Bran
100g / 31/2oz Nuts, your preference, my favourite are chopped almonds.
100g / 31/2oz Sunflower seeds
1tsp vanilla essence
125ml / fl oz Clarks Maple Syrup
200g / 7oz Dried Fruits, Sultanas, Raisins, Apricots, Cranberries, Dates, Apple, Pears, Cherries. My favourite is Sultanas and Cranberries
Method
1. In a very large mixing bowl put the wheat germ, oats, nuts and sunflower seeds and mix well. Next add the vanilla syrup and pour over the maple syrup and mix well.
2. Line two large baking trays with parchment and divide the mixture between them. Bake for at least 15 minutes on 180.
3. When toasted/lightly browned put back in mixing bowl and add dried fruit. Allow to cool completely before storing in air tight container.
4. To serve mix with either milk or yoghurt.
